After a short absence for health concerns, successful Egyptian comedian Ahmed Amin expressed his eagerness to return to action, urging his fans to attend his theater project Amin and Partners at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
Amin announced last month he was facing a throat problem that forced him not to speak for weeks, blogging frequently about the experience.
"I can't wait," stated Amin through his 1.2-million-fan facebook page adding "I know how important theater is for Alexandrians and I am sure the experience will be very special."
Amin and his group will stage two different plays each night; 'Tarbyat El-Aial' and 'Seib El-Net Tehabbak' on Monday 29 July and Tuesday 30 July at the BACC, Great Hall.
Produced by Mohamed Gebeily and directed by Alaa Ismail, Amin and Partners is the start of a long-term project that aims to introduce young talents to the crowd and will kick-off early this year.
The project proved successful when Amin staged a number of plays at the MUST Opera House in 6 October City, in addition to its TV screening that attracted many commercial sponsors.
Amin, a fine arts graduate, originally showed success in journalism in managing a children's magazine for several years, which led him to write the successful 3D animation series 'Bassant & Diasty' before gaining a fan base with homemade video series '30 seconds' four years ago.
In the series, he satired trending issues in monologues that quickly encouraged a telecom company to sponsor an expanded version named 'El-Break,' which was developed later into the hit TV programme 'Al-Plateau' that led him to various appearances in film and TV series including comic TV series 'Al Wassiya', assisting another TV star who has much in common; Akram Hosni.
Amin and Partner is in Bibliotheca Alexandrina as part of its 17th International Summer Festival, taking place between Friday 26 July to Saturday 31 August at their theaters in Alexandria.
The festival includes a variety of art activities like music concerts, theatre plays, films screening, poetry, and stand-up comedy, in addition to a series of workshops and lectures on various aspects of art.
Programme:
