The K-Movie Nights opened on 15 September at Al-Hanager Arts Centre Cinema.
The inauguration was attended by Ambassador of Korea Yoon Yeocheol, Director of the Korean Culture Centre in Cairo (KCC) Yang Sang Keun and stage director Khaled Galal, head of the Cultural Production Sector.
The K-Movie Nights screenings consist of a new set of films combining drama, crime and comedy. The screenings ran over three nights from 15 to 17 September. The films, including Little Forest, Detective K: Secret of the Virtuous Widow and Assassination were screened with Arabic subtitles.
The K-Movie Nights included two screenings at Misr Public Library in Port Said, where Little Forest was screened on 18 September and The Tunnel is screened on 19 September.
Director of the KCC Yang emphasised the importance of the movie screenings in promoting cultural exchange and mutual understanding between Egypt and Korea.
“The KCC has a year-round programme of film screenings at its premises in Dokki,” he said, noting that “these screenings helped Korean culture fans in Egypt to closely experience the Korean culture as well as to discover the Korean lifestyle.”
