Zamalek have reached an agreement to extend the contracts of key duo; striker Bassem Morsi and midfielder Ibrahim Salah, club chairman Mortada Mansour announced late on Monday.

"Salah has officially signed a new three-year contract with the club," Mansour was quoted as saying by the club's official website.

"Also, I had a meeting with Bassem Morsi and we reached an agreement to extend his contract," he added without disclosing the details.

Morsi expressed devotion to the club in an interview with ON Sport TV Channel after the meeting with Mortada. "Zamalek have given me a lot. My relationship with the club is more important to me than contracts and I am ready to sign the new deal without discussing any conditions," he said.

Salah, 29 years old, has established himself as one of Zamalek's key players since joining the club in 2009 from Mansoura.

The same can be said of Morsi, 24, who is widely regarded as Egypt's best striker, especially after a series of outstanding performances with the Whites since joining them from El Entag El Harby in 2014.

Morsi scored twice to give Zamalek the Egypt Cup title last season, beating rivals Ahly 3-1 in the final.

Together, Salah and Morsi were instrumental in guiding the Cairo giants to win the domestic double (the Egyptian League and Egypt Cup titles) in the 2014/2015 season.

They are also key members on the squad that will represent Egypt in the African Cup of Nations finals in Gabon next month.

Zamalek currently lie fourth on the Egyptian league table with 28 points, 14 behind leaders Ahly who have played four matches more than they.
