The FINA World Championships – or World Aquatics Championships – are the main global competition for aquatic sports: swimming, diving, high-diving, open-water swimming, synchronised swimming, and water polo.
The tournament runs from 14 to 30 July this year.
Egypt is represented in the prestigious event by some of the country's swimming stars of recent years, notably Ahmed Akram, who finished fourth in the 1,500-metre freestyle at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships.
On Wednesday, Egypt's Mohamed Samy and Mohamed Khaled Hussein failed to reach the men's 100-metre freestyle final.
