Ahly defender Saad Samir will not be available for four weeks due to a hamstring injury, the Cairo giants announced on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old picked up the injury during his side's 2-0 win over Talae El-Geish on Sunday, which lifted them up to sixth in the Egyptian Premier League table with 20 points. They still have four rescheduled games. 

Samir will join a long list of absentees that includes Ali Maaloul, Junior Ajayi, Mohamed Naguib, Hossam Ashour, Ahmed Fathi and Salah Mohsen.

Ahly will kick off their Champions League campaign on Friday when they host Jimma Aba Jifar of Ethiopia in the first leg of the competition's round of 32.
