Ahly football team will miss the services of in-form defender Mahmoud Metwalli, midfielder Amr El-Sulaya and defender Yasser Ibrahim when the Red Devils start their Egyptian Premier League campaign on Monday.
Ahly's defender Mahmoud Metwalli, 26, who joined the team from Ismaily last month, sustained a muscle injury during the 3-2 win over arch-rivals Zamalek in the Egyptian Super Cup on Friday. Metwalli left the pitch due to the injury, making way for right-back Mohamed Hani in the 26th minute.
"Medical scans showed that Mahmoud Metwalli suffers from a rupture of the posterior muscle and he needs four weeks of rehab," Ahly's doctor Khaled Mahmoud was quoted as saying on the club's official website on Saturday.
"Amr El-Sulaya also suffers from an instep injury and he will start his recovery program with the team later on Saturday," the Ahly doctor said.
"Yasser Ibrahim suffers from muscle fatigue and he will return to trainings after finishing his rehab program."
Last year's league champions Ahly will kick off their title-defending bid in the new season against Smouha on Monday.
