Egypt were dealt their ninth consecutive defeat in their last match in the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Cup in Japan on Tuesday, losing 3-1 to USA.

Late on Monday, Brazil were crowned with the prestigious tournament title after beating hosts Japan to claim their third World Cup crown.

The Egyptian team had a perfect start in the USA game; winning the first set 25-22, before losing the second, third and fourth sets 25-16, 25-14 and 25-13 respectively.

"They are one of the best teams. We prepared to face Micah, but he did not play in the first set. When he came in he killed us with his setting. They served well after that and we could not play anymore," Egypt's coach Gido Vermeulen said after the match.

"For the most part, we performed well in the tournament, with the exception of one or two games, and showed what we can do," he added.

Egypt ended the tournament in 10th place on eight points, ahead of Australia and Tunisia, who lay at the bottom of the 12-place ranking table. Brazil led the table with 32 points.

Poland got the silver medal after coming in second with 28 points, while USA clinched the Bronze after ending the completion in third place with 27 points.

Egypt won their first two matches against Australia and Iran, before losing eight straight games.

The World Cup comprised 12 teams: Japan, Egypt, Italy, Russia, Poland, Iran, Australia, Tunisia, USA, Canada, Brazil and Argentina.
