Mohamed Salah said Manchester City can still pose a threat to runaway Premier League leaders Liverpool, saying his team should now shift their attention to the domestic competition following their Club World Cup triumph on Saturday.

The Egypt wizard won his third trophy with Liverpool as they beat Flamengo 1-0 in Qatari capital Doha, adding the Club World Cup title to the European Champions League and Super Cup trophies, which he had won with the Reds earlier this year.

Liverpool are also firm favourites to land their first English league title since 1990 and the first in the Premier League era as they enjoy a whopping 10-point lead over nearest challengers Leicester City, with a game in hand.

Manchester City, champions for the past two seasons, are 11 points behind Liverpool, having played a game more.

However, Salah is taken nothing for granted.

"There is a long way to go. Both Leicester and Manchester City can challenge Liverpool all the way," he told beIN Sports in a pitch-side interview following the win over Flamengo.

"Last season, we were in the lead until Christmas," he added, referring to City's remarkable comeback that saw them bridge a significant gap and snatch the Premier League title from Liverpool by a single point in one of the most exciting races in years.

"We should turn our attention to the Premier League and remain focused on the task ahead. We will take it one game at a time.

When asked whether his priority was to win the Premier League or retain the Champions League title, Salah said he wants both.

"When it comes to trophies, I'm greedy," he added with a smile.

The 27-year-old, who provided an assist in Liverpool's 2-1 victory over Mexico's Monterrey in the semis, won the Golden Ball award for the Club World Cup best player. 

"I'm not really convinced with individual awards; the award should go to all the players. I'm happier with the Club World Cup title than the individual award," he said.
