After booking a place in the African Champions League quarterfinals, Ahly players affirmed that they don't mind who will they face in the coming round as the champions team focuses only on titles, not opponents.

The Cairo giants survived a late scare in Sudan's Omdurman to book their place in the African Champions League quarterfinals following a tense 1-1 draw with Al-Hilal on Saturday.

"I am happy with qualifying for the African Champions League quarterfinals, so we don't care about our opponents in the coming round," Ahly veteran defender Rami Rabia told reporters after the game.

Ahly will wait the result of the draw for the knockout phase that will take place in Cairo on 5 February as eight teams from the African top flight march on in the continental tournament.

The Red Devils, who qualified for the quarterfinals after placing second in Group B, are waiting to face one the big African teams, Tunisian Esperance, DR Congo's TP Mazembe or South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns, who reached the knockout stage after leading their groups.

"All people know well the mentality of Ahly players in critical situations,” Rabia said. "We don't care about the name of our opponent in the quarterfinals as we only search for one target: how to win the trophy to please our fans who are waiting for the African title," he added.

Meanwhile, Ahly defender Yasser Ibrahim extolled on the performance of his teammates during the Saturday game, saying the team's character played a key role in reaching the quarterfinals.

"We won't give up our dream of snatching the African Champions League title," Ibrahim said after the game.

"The character of Ahly players was the key word in booking a place in the knockout stage,” he said. "We will fight until the end of the tournament to claim the African Champions League title," the Ahly defender added.
