After Ahly snatched a victory over Pyramids FC in the Egyptian Premier League on Thursday with a controversial injury-time goal, the latter's officials have said that they will ask for foreign referees to officiate their remaining games.
The screamer from Malian midfielder Aliou Dieng ended the match 2-1 and gave Ahly their first-ever win against Pyramids FC, maintaining their perfect league run.
Two Pyramids players were sent off after the goal following arguments with the referee, having reportedly claimed the referee had ordered a goal kick for Pyramids, then changed his mind to order a corner kick for Ahly, which helped the latter win the match.
"I can't believe all that happened with Ahly's second goal, how the referee referred to a goal kick for Pyramids, then he changed the order to a corner kick," Pyramids FC sports director Hani Saied told a television programme after the game.
In injury time, a quickly taken corner kick by Ahly left-back Ali Maaloul reached Badji, who set up the ball for Dieng to fire the winner from inside the box.
"We will ask the Egyptian Football Association to hire foreign referees to officiate our remaining games in the league," Saied added.
Thursday's win helped Ahly extend their winning run in the Egyptian league this season to 13 consecutive wins.
They lead the league table with a maximum 39 points, seven ahead of second-placed Arab Contractors, who have played three games more.
