Ahly football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz has announced that the team's winger Ramadan Sobhi will resume trainings by the end of this week after recovering from a hamstring strain.

"Ramadan Sobhi will resume trainings and the technical staff will determine his situation regarding the game against Zamalek in the Egypt Super Cup," Ahly football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz was quoted as saying on the club's official website.

The in-form Ramadan Sobhi, who plays for Ahly on loan from English side Huddersfield Town, picked up a hamstring strain during training last December.

The 22-year-old Sobhi, who came from Ahly's youth ranks, is a key player in coach Rene Weiler's lineup, bringing much-needed strength and creativity to the frontline.

The Red Devils are set to face arch-rivals Zamalek in the Egypt Super Cup on 20 February at Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium in United Arab Emirates.

"Ahly will fly to the UAE on 17 February in preparation to face Zamalek in the Egypt Super Cup," Abdel-Hafiz added.

This is the fourth time the UAE is hosting Egypt's Super Cup, having organised the event in 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Ahly are the record holders of the Super Cup with 11 titles. Zamalek have won it three times.
