Ahly's Assistant Coach Sami Komsan said on Friday that the team's Swiss coach Rene Weiler asked him to follow the Casablanca derby between Wydad and Raja in preparations for the anticipated Red devils' games against Wydad in the CAF champions League semifinals next month.

Ahly, the eight-time CAF Champions League title holders, are scheduled to face Wydad of Morocco, a two-time champion, on 18 October in Casablanca the first leg of the Champions League semi-final.

On Thursday, Wydad were held to goalless draw with their arch-foe Raja de Casablanca in the 25th matchday of the Moroccan League.

"Weiler asked me to follow the Casablanca derby as well as writing a technical report about the game,"Komsan told a television programme on Friday.

Weiler's request comes amid speculation over his future with the team as reports in the Egyptian media claimed that the 46-year-old Swiss tactician will leave the club by the end of this month.

From his side, the Swiss coach, who secured the 42nd League title for the Red Devils six games before the league end, said on Wednesday that he does not pay any attention to chatter regarding his departure from the Cairo giants, stressing he is only concentrating on games.

"Weiler is a brilliant coach who helped Ahly and he also made use of the team after winning two trophies," the Ahly's assistant coach added.
