Zamalek Tunisian star Ferjani Sassi denied the alleged news that he was infected with the coronavirus during his national team’s preparation friendlies ahead of the resumption of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

“Clarification: respecting the health protocol used in my country, I decided on my own to put myself in self-quarantine for five days after I was directly exposed to Covid,” the 28-year-old player explained on his twitter account.

“Everything about my health situation is just a rumor,” he assured.

The Zamalek key player did not play the Egyptian Premier League game against Wadi Degla and will also miss Monday’s game against Haras El-Hodoud due to the Tunisian national team friendlies against Sudan and Nigeria.

The White Knights will need Sassi's services for the anticipated African Champions League semifinal games against Morocco’s current champions Raja Casablanca - scheduled for 18 and 24 October -  as he is seen as one of the main solid pillars in Zamalek's squad ever since he joined the club in 2018.
