The Supreme Administrative Court on Monday resumed its review into the constitutionality of Egypt's second Constituent Assembly.

This comes after the court in late Julyrejected a petition seeking to recuse the presiding judges because they had also ruled on the constitutionality of the first Constituent Assembly, which was subsequently dissolved in April.

The petition had been submitted by lawyers representing the Muslim Brotherhood, whose political arm, the Freedom and Justice Party, held the most number of seats in the now dissolved parliament.

The High Constitutional Court declared in June that the law which regulated the election of the People's Assembly (lower house of parliament) was unconstitutional, leading the then-ruling military council to dissolve the legislative body.

Because the People's Assembly had appointed the 100-members of the Constituent Assembly, the legitimacy of assembly itself came into question.

The case had been adjourned since 24 September before today's session.
