The Conference Party, headed by former presidential contender Amr Moussa, calls for a national consensus government and to postpone setting a date for parliamentary elections.

In a statement issued on Sunday the libeeral party called for a government that "does not exclude any political group or party," arguing that is what Egypt needs to manage affairs "in this critical situation - especially in light of the general dissatisfaction that one group [the Muslim Brotherhood] rules the country alone."

The party says security and reviving the economy are priorities.

The party also called for "speeding up identifying those responsible for the [recent Port Said] massacre and putting them on trial… especially those who did not take appropriate precautionary measures needed to protect [the people]."

Since Friday Egypt clashes between protesters and security forces have exploded in several Egyptian governorates on the second anniversary of the January 25 Revolution.

Massive clashes erupted in Port Said on Saturday after the verdict against Port Said locals in the 2012 football stadium massacre was announced.

More than 33 protesters were killed in Port Said in the past 48 hours.
