Cairo Intl Film Festival is confirmed for 2012
MENA, Tuesday 7 Feb 2012
The Cairo International Film Festival is planned to resume this year after having been cancelled last year due to insufficient budget and Egypt's unstable political climate

Minister of Culture Shaker Abdel Hamid declared that the 35th Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF), Egypt’s largest film festival, will indeed be held in November 2012.

The festival is scheduled for 27 November - 6 December, to fit the Cairo Opera House facilities availability.

The confirmation that the festival will go on came as a result of a meeting between the minister of culture; the head of the film festival, Sherif Rizkallah and a delegation that includes Magda Wassef, festival manager, filmmaker Sherif Mandour; the executive manager of the festival and film critic, Tarek El-Shennawy.

Last year, Egypt's former minister of culture Emad Abou-Ghazi cancelled the CIFF due to insufficient budget and the unstable political situation in Egypt.
