Mubarak still in Sharm, earlier reports wrong

An informed source told Ahram Online that Hosni Mubarak is still in Sharm El-Sheikh and that earlier reports that he had been transferred to a military hospital near Cairo were false

Arrested President Hosni Mubarak is still in Sharm El-Sheikh and rumours about his transfer to the International Medical Centre (IMC) near Cairo were deliberately circulated to mislead, an informed source told Ahram Online.

It was announced Saturday that Mubarak had arrived at the armed forces-run IMC, located along the Cairo-Ismailia desert road, where he was expected to reside until the end of his interrogation on charges of financial corruption and ordering the killing of peaceful protesters.

The next day, however, contradictory statements came out about his location, with some confirming his arrival at IMC and others assuring the 82-year-old is still held at Sharm El-Sheikh International Hospital.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, believes the confusion over Mubarak’s whereabouts is intentional due to security concerns, but affirmed that the deposed president was still being held in the International Sharm El-Sheikh hospital.
