Egyptian wrestler and television presenter Mamdouh Farag dies after suffering illness
Egypt's most famous wrestler, Mamdouh Farag, passed away on Saturday morning after succumbing to illness, according to Al-Ahram Arabic news website.
Farag, a renowned TV show host, is famous in the Arab world for his popular wrestling programmes in which he used to entertain the game's most celebrated champions.
Farag claimed to have won the European championship in 1976 in Hannover under a foreign nationality, among a host of other accolades. He eventually retired in 1997after a 36-year career inside the ring, turning instead to a career in television.
Farag was 64.
