Israeli media reported on Monday that President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi had promised Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas that he'd give away parts of Sinai

Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi on Monday denied reports from Israeli media that Egypt has promised to offer Palestinians land in the Sinai Peninsula.

In a speech to mark national teachers' day and which mostly dealt with education, El-Sisi stressed that no one can make such promises and that there is no room for talk about the matter.

Israeli media reported early Monday that El-Sisi had promised Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas that he would give Palestinians land in Sinai.

The Palestinian presidency denied the allegations soon after the reports emerged.

Abbas arrived in Cairo on Saturday for a three-day visit to discuss actions to end the Israeli occupation of Palestine.

Secretary General of the Palestinian presidency, Al-Tayeb Abdel-Rehim, also denied the allegations, according to Palestinian news agency Maan.

Rumours have surfaced in the last year that Egypt's ousted Islamist president Mohamed Morsi had promised Palestinians parts of Sinai as terms of a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, sparking outrage among many Egyptians.
