Ahram Online, Saturday 11 Oct 2014

An Egyptian pilot had to opt for an emergency landing at Cairo Airport on Saturday after the cockpit windshield cracked while in the air.

Al-Ahram's Arabic site reported the passenger flight set off from Sohag International Airport, Upper Egypt, heading to Saudi Arabian Capital Riyadh.

The pilot, who was not named in the report, diverted the flight to Cairo after flying for an hour.

The Airbus plane belonged to an unnamed private airline.
