The daughter of a 70-year-old American man who visited the United Arab Emirates to speak at a conference says he has been arrested in the Gulf nation for taking a photograph in a restricted area.

Robert Alan Black's daughter, Jessica Beasley, said Monday she is concerned about her father's health in jail and believes any inappropriate pictures the Athens, Georgia, man may have taken were unintentional.

She says Black was arrested on Oct. 21 after taking part in a creativity conference in the Emirati capital, Abu Dhabi.

The U.S. Embassy had no comment. Abu Dhabi police officials could not immediately be reached for comment.

A number of foreigners have been prosecuted by a state security court in recent years for taking pictures of subjects deemed prohibited by authorities.
