Three Egyptian coalitions call for a march in Imbaba, the site of recent fatal sectarian clashes to rally for Egyptian unity

The Egyptian National Association for Change, the Popular Campaign for Supporting El-Baradei ‎and the April 6 Youth Movement are calling for a march in Imbaba on Monday, 5pm with the express intent to rally for Egyptian unity.‎

Imbaba witnessed sectarian violence on Saturday after Muslims and Copts exchanged ‎gunfire, firebombs and stones, leaving at least 12 dead and 240 injured.‎ The Muslims believed that recent converts to Islam were being held against their will inside the church.

The organisers of the unity march invoked “all Egyptians” to take part and stressed that only ‎Egyptian flags be waved. ‎

Egyptians from across the political spectrum are expected to turn up.
