Dubai Intl Film Festival announces the winners of 2014 Muhr Awards

The Dubai International Film Festival came to a close yesterday, announcing the top winners in the short and long feature categories of the Muhr competition. Egypt left the competition empty handed


The 11th edition of Dubai International Film Festival, which ran between 10-17 December announced prizes of this year's event:

Muhr Features:
Best Fiction Feature: I Am Nojoom, Age 10 and Divorced (Yemen, UAE, France) by Khadija Al-Salami
Best Non-fiction Feature: Nearby Sky (UAE) by Nojoom Al-Ghanem
Jury Prize: Roshmia (UAE, Palestine, Qatar, Syria) by Salim Abu Jabal
Special Mention: I am Dead (Algeria and UAE) by Yacine Mohamed Benelhadj, Letter to the King (UAE and Norway) by Hisham Zaman and The Council (Jordan and UAE) by Yahya Allabdallah

Muhr Shorts:
Best Film: ...And Romeo Married Juliette (Tunisia) by Hinde Boujemaa
Jury Prize: Bad Hunter (Belgium and UAE) by Sahim Omar Kalifa
Special Mention: In Over Time (Jordan and Palestine) by Rami Yasin and With Thy Spirit (Lebanon) by Karim Rahbani


The 11th Dubai International Film Festival included four films from Egypt in the official competition: Out of the Ordinary by Daoud Abdel-Sayed (long feature),White Sugar by Ahmed Khaled (short feature), The Aftermath of TheInaugurationof thePublic Toilet at Kilometer 375 by Omar El-Zohairy(short feature)andAl-Matour by Ahmed Ibrahim(short feature).

In addition,Amir Ramses's star-studded feature Cairo Time screened as part of the Arabian Nights programme.

None of Egypt's submission receieved awards at this year's DIFF.
