The former presidential candidate is to file a legal complaint against Sada El-Balad satellite channel and controversial TV host Ahmed Moussa

Former presidential candidate Hamdeen Sabahi decided on Thursday to file a legal complaint against Sada El-Balad TV channel and television host Ahmed Moussafor "spreading false that will cause national strife."

Controversial host Moussa said on his daily show "On my responsibility," aired on the privately owned channel, that Sabahi, along with other political figures, are leading a campaign to "overthrow the current regime."

Moussa stressed at the beginning of his show that the Sabahi has allied with terrorist groups – referring to the Muslim Brotherhood – and is planning for a campaign against President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi.

Meanwhile, the statement issued by Sabahi`s media office stressed that the show had spread false news defaming Sabahi that will harm his relationship with El-Sisi.

It was also highlighted that the case will not contradict any code of freedom of speech to the Egyptian media.

Moussa, who is also a journalist at Al-Ahram newspaper, is a staunch opponent of the January 2011 revolution.

He has repeatedly launched verbal attacks on activists associated with the uprising, but was never brought to court over any such attacks.
