Ahly savior Walid Soliman could be a major doubt for Africa Super Cup clash against Algeria's ES Setif
Ahly attacking midfielder Walid Soliman will undergo medical scans to determine the seriousness of a knee injury he sustained during the 1-1 draw with Zamalek in the Cairo derby on Thursday.
The 30-year-old Soliman was forced to leave the battle ground in the 67th minute with a serious knee injury after scoring in Ahly's draw with Zamalek.
"The prime tests revealed that Soliman is suffering from a knee tear injury," Ahly football director Wael Gomaa told reporters after the game.
"He will undergo further scans to define the seriousness of his injury and the time he needs to recover," Gomaa added.
There is doubt over whether Soliman will be able to recover in time for Ahly's showdown against Algeria's ES Setif in the Africa Super Cup that is scheduled to be played on 21 February.
Ahly, the CAF Confederation Cup winners, are bidding to complete the four by winning the Africa Super Cup, Egyptian Premier League and Egypt's Cup.
