Egypt secured the gold in the Hurghada Squash Open as Ramy Ashour dominated the men’s contest and Raneem El-Weleily earned the women’s top prize
Top seed and defending champion Ramy Ashour was pushed hard by his fellow countryman Karim Darwish 3-2 in 80 minutes.
The world’s number 2 player won the first set 11-9. But after dropping in the second and third games 9-11, 12-14, he bounced back to claim the fourth 11-9 before finishing in grand style in the decisive 11-3.
In the women's contest, Raneem El-Weleily beat compatriot Omneya Abdel-Kawy in three straight games 11-5, 12-10, 11-9 in 27 minutes.
