Algerian choreographer and dancer Nacera Belaza will perform La Traversée and La Nuit for the first time in Cairo
On 8 and 9 April, Algerian contemporary dancer Nacera Belaza will perform in Cairo as a part of DCAF.
Over two nights, Belaza will present two performances: La Traversée (The Crossing), a solo performance by the choreographer herself, and La Nuit (The Night), which will be performed by Dalia Belaza, Aurélie Berland, Anne-Sophie Lancelin and the choreographer.
Born in Algeria and living in France, Belaza’s work represent “a quest,” and tends to strengthen the direct bond between the dancer and the audience, the event’s press release reads.
Belaza launched her own dance company in 1989. The company’s productions Les Oiseaux (The Birds) and La Traversée, have been a part of several festivals including Festival Montpellier Danse, the Rencontres Chorégraphiques Internationales de Seine-Saint-Denis and the Biennale de la danse de Lyon. Belaza has launched an artistic collective in Algeria, which has managed the contemporary dance festival ‘Le Temps dansé’ programme since 2013.
