Friday 17 April films:

74 (The Reconstitution of a Struggle)is a 2012 documentary directed by Rania and Raef Rafei, featuring Nassim Arabi (As Youssef), Yousri El Chami (Iyad), Rita Hedroj (Rima) and others.

Though the film echoes with the March and April 1974 events when, for 37 days, a few students from the American University of Beirut occupied the university's premises to protest against rising tuition fees, the directors look at the distant struggle from the 2011 Arab spring perspective. According to a synopsis released at the IMDb, the filmmakers ask questions such as "Should they revive the past? Recall it? Reconstruct it? The film doesn't only reread past events, but also searches for their echo in today's time. What is democracy today, and how can we fight?"

The screening will begin at 6.30pm at Zawya. Both directors will be in attendance.

Roshmiais a documentary, directed by Salim Abu Jabal, starring Amna Abu Fodeh, Youssef Hassan, Ghaleb Kiwan, Fouad Abu Qamir and others, all depicting themselves.

Officially released in 2014, the film was screened at the Dubai International Film Festival (2014) where it was nominated for Muhr Award for best non-fiction feature and received 'Muhr Jury Special Prize'.

According to the information at IMDb, Roshmia talks about "an elderly Palestinian couple [who] has a final standoff against Israeli authorities to maintain their natural lifestyle in Roshmia; the last natural valley in Haifa.''

The screening will begin at 9.30pm and the director will be in attendance.
