The Spanish coach left Ahly out of Africa, and also struggling to win their ninth successive tournament in the Premier League
Spanish coach Juan Carlos Garrido said he is waiting for an amicable departure from Ahly who sacked him Monday following the team's elimination from the CAF Champions League.
"[I am] waiting and looking for a definitive official solution to conclude my contract," the 46-year-old tactician stated through his twitter account Tuesday noon.
Garrido, who signed a two-year contract with the Cairo giants in July 2014, was fired by Ahly after a poor run domestically and continentally, without agreeing on the contract's termination clause.
Losing to Moghreb Tetouan of Morocco Saturday, the record holders of eight trophies exited the CAF Champions League in the round of 16 and were downgraded to compete in the CAF Confederation Cup, the tournament they won under Garrido last year as the first ever Egyptian representatives.
Meanwhile, Ahly's hopes of equalling their own record of winning the league title nine times in a row have been dealt a serious blow as they remain third in the table with 46 points, eleven points behind leaders and arch-rivals Zamalek.
"I would like to wish good luck to captain Mabrouk," Garrido added, ending his tweet with "Ahlawy", which is translated as "a fan of Ahly".
The Cairo-based club Ahly appointed Fathi Mabrouk as their caretaker coach on Monday for third spell in pinch-coaching for the team at times of crises in the last 12 years.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils have been drawn to play Tunisian club African in the Confederation Cup.
