A solo painting exhibit by Hend Samir, one of the winners of the Roznama 3 award, tackles consumerism in a work titled Chocolate Bar of the Future.
In a series of surreal paintings based on advertisements and manipulated photographs, Samir mimics and mocks the sentimental experiences of shopping and takes a critical look into consumer habits.
Samir is one of two winners of Medrar’s Roznama 3 competition award, which took place on 12 October 2014. The prize granted her USD 1000 and a solo show at Medrar.
A graduate of Helwan faculty of fine arts printing section, Samir works with many techniques including painting, print making, mixed media and installation.
In addition to participating in many group exhibits in Egypt, she has also exhibited at Mattress Factory Museum in the USA and Supermarket Art Fair in Sweden.

Opening will take place Sunday 10 May, 7 pm and the exhibit runs to 24 May.
