Sara L. Lekas, an American writer based in Cairo, has released a new book from the scholar's press, titled 'The emergence of Women Leaders in Egypt'.

The book attempts to explain and explore the factors that led to emergence of women as leaders in Egypt, which was fueled by the January 25 revolution and the political situation in the country, as women took part in protests as leaders and led many of the protesting activities.

The writer argues that the revolution provided women in Egypt with an opportunity to fight for equal rights and to occupy positions of authority.

Sara Leaks has been living in Egypt for the past 10 years. She attended the Southern Methodist University, Universities of Phoenix and New Jersey, and now holds the position of early childhood principal at the American International School in Cairo.
