French businesses to present projects in Cairo

A delegation of businesses in infrastructure, energy, transportation and construction is to visit Cairo on Sunday


A French business delegation of 30 large, medium and small companies is set to visit Cairo on Sunday to present their projects and study investment opportunities in Egypt.

Headed byPatrick Lucas, vice-president of MEDEF International and co-president of the French Egyptian Council (CFEA), the delegation includes representatives of businesses in infrastructure, energy, transportation and construction.

The delegation are to present their projects during a visit to the Suez Canal.

Egypt is planning to set up logistics and industrial hubs along the 160 km corridor of barren desert beside the international waterway, as part of a development project expected to cost $220 billion over 15 years, according to Ashraf Salman, Egypt's investment minister.

The mega project is at the heart of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's economic development plan which includes reforming the state budget and boosting growth through cooperation with the private sector.

The French delegation will hold a press conference on Monday at the Conrad.
