Salah can 'veto' Fiorentina move, says agent

Egypt winger Mohamed Salah can block his move to Fiorentina regardless of the option to extend his deal that is included in the contract between his home club Chelsea and the Viola, his agent claims.

"Fiorentina have the right to extend the loan for a year for €1 million, but the player has the right to veto that, so it all depends on what the player wants to do," agent Ulisse Savini told SportItalia on Saturday.

The Italian side signed the 22-year-old winger on loan last January as he sought to revitalise his career after finding first-team opportunities limited at English Premier League club Chelsea.

Salah joined Chelsea in January 2014 after making a huge impact with Basel, whom he led to the domestic title in 2013 before winning the Switzerland player of the year award in the same year.

He fell down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge and only managed to play 27 games, scoring four goals in all competitions over a little more than a year.

Fiorentina gave him a lifeline as he was assigned a starting role, allowing him to make an immediate impact. The speedy and gifted forward scored six league goals, helping them finish fourth in the Serie A table.

However, he might be tempted by a return to the Premier League especially that Vincenzo Montella, the man who put all his faith in him, quit Fiorentina.

According to ESPN, Tottenham Hotspur are interesting in luring Salah to boost their chances of finishing among the top four next season and secure a Champions League spot.

"He's with the national team at the moment but will decide when he returns," Savini concluded.
