Egypt closed the Rafah border crossing on Thursday after a three-day opening period allowed 1,158 Palestinians to enter the Gaza Strip, Aswat Masriya reported.

In addition, 82 trucks carrying construction materials crossed the border to Gaza.

On Sunday, Egypt opened the Rafah border in both directions for three days.

The Egyptian authorities decided to reopen the crossing in order to allow stranded Palestinians to pass through it and to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid.

For security reasons, Egypt has kept the Rafah crossing closed to Palestinians for most of the past two years.

On May 27, the crossing was reopened for three days for Palestinians in one direction

During the last month Egyptian authorities have opened the crossing three times.
