Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi is scheduled to meet with French Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian in Cairo Saturday, a week after Egypt received the first batch of a multi-billion French warplanes deal.

Last Monday, Egypt officially received three Dassault Aviation-built Rafale fighters from France in a ceremony at a French military base, the first batch of 24 warplanes acquired by Cairo in a 5.2 billion Euro ($5.6 billion) deal in February.

The planes arrived in Cairo Tuesday, flying in celebration over the Giza Pyramids, Media Production City in 6th of October, the Maspero TV and radio building, and the River Nile.

Egypt is the first country to buy Rafale jets from Dassault Aviation after months of failed attempts by successive French governments to sell them.

Press reports predict that the second batch of the Rafales may be delivered to Egypt between December 2015 and January 2016.

In April, Qatar also sealed a 6.3 billion Euro deal with the French government to buy 36 Rafales.
