Farida Osman qualifies to 50m butterfly semi-final in World Swimming Championships
Egyptian swimmer Farida Osman qualified for the 50m butterfly semi-final on Thursday in the World Swimming Championships held in Kazan, Russia.
Osman finished overall 12th in the preliminary heats with 26.33 seconds. Her personal best is 26.08 seconds, which is also the Egyptian and African record. She achieved it last June at Arena 2015 Pro-series in Santa Clara.
Swedish world record holder Sarah Sjostrom came first of the qualifying heats with 25.43 seconds,
Osman, the 20 years old swimmer who learned her trade at Cairo's Gezira club finished 7th in the Barcelona 2013 World Championships, the best result ever for Egypt at the World Swimming Championships.
She will play the semi-final tonight.
