Egypt's Minister of Social Solidarity Ghada Wali dissolved on Tuesday 10 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) that belonged to the Muslim Brotherhood, a statement issued by the ministry read.

Nine of the dissolved NGOs operated in the Nile Deltacity of Daqahliya and one in the Delta governorate ofBeheira.

The minister decided to transfer the funds and properties of the ten NGOs to governmental institutions, according to the statement.

Wali said that the decision to disband the NGOs stemmed from the ruling in September 2013 by the Cairo court for urgent matters that banned all Muslim Brotherhood activities and ordered the groups' assets to be seized.

Since the 2013 ruling, the government has seized the funds of almost a thousand Brotherhood members, and disbanded hundreds of charities, businesses, schools and associations belonging to the group.

The social solidarity ministry appointed new board of directors for 29 Brotherhood-linked NGOs across Egypt. Twenty eight of the NGOs operate in Minya, while the other one in Cairo.

Over 450 NGOs have been closed by court order so far.

In December 2013, following the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi in July of the same year, Egypt's then-interim authorities designated the Brotherhood a terrorist organisation.
