The governor of Iraq's Anbar province said on Thursday he was implementing a broad package of reforms as part of a campaign led by Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi to combat corruption and end sectarian and party quotas for government positions.

Sohaib al-Rawi said on Twitter he was dismissing all of his aides and advisers as well as district managers who had been in their posts for more than four years or had performed poorly.

Anbar province, the Sunni Muslim heartland in western Iraq, is the focus of the Baghdad government's offensive against Islamic State militants, who have seized large swathes of the country's north and west.
