The police officers are being investigated for sexually harassing an Egyptian air stewardess on a Wednesday night flight

Two Qatari police officers were arrested at Cairo's international airport and accused of sexually harassing an Egyptian air stewardess during a flight to Cairo on Wednesday evening, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported.

The Qataris committed the alleged crime on a Qatar Airways flight.

According to security sources at the airport, the air stewardess insisted on reporting the men to the Egyptian authorities as soon as the plane landed.

Hours following their detention, the air stewardess dropped the complaint against the two police officers. The prosecution has ordered their release.

Last month, Cairo airport authorities briefly detained a Qatari diplomat for possessing nine grams of hashish. The diplomat was soon deported after his country's embassy issued a formal apology.

Qatari-Egyptian relations soured after the ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in July 2013 after mass protests against his rule. Egypt has accused Qatar of supporting the now-banned Islamist group.
