In response to the attendance of members of the defunct NDP at a party conference in Mansoura, 31 members leave the Free Egyptians Party

The liberal Free Egyptians Party has announced that 31 of its members resigned during the party's latest conference in Mansoura on Tuesday, reportedly because some members of the dissolved National Democratic Party (NDP) attended the conference.

As members of the defunct NDP got in, some people started a fight and others left in objection to their attendance. The party has assured that it will continue communicating with the resigning members, trying to assuage their concerns.

“The party does not control the attendees of its conferences. We make open invitations,” said Ahmed Saeed, a founding member.

The party is currently staging many conferences, trying to reach the public to gain popularity. “Because of our popularity, our competitors are trying to fight our victory,” according to the press statement released by the party in response to Mansoura incident.

The Free Egyptians Party is one of the liberal parties established after the Egyptian revolution. The founder of the party is Naguib Sawiris, the renowned Egyptian business tycoon.
