Ismaily roared into second place in the Egyptian Premier League table after beating bottom-side Smouha 3-2 on Thursday

The hosts had their work done in only 17 minutes through Ahmed Ali, 5 and 17, and Ahmed Samir Farag, 13, scored to give their team a comfortable lead while Godwin Attram 34 and Ahmed Belal, 88, scored but that wasn’t enough to get them any points out of this game.

Ali put Ismaily ahead after five minutes deflecting Farag’s cross into the back of the net. Eight minutes later Farag turned from provider to scorer when he doubled the lead on a well-placed free kick.

Ali increased his tally of goals in the game from close range after eliminating two defenders and firing in the top corner of Smouha’s goal.

Three goals down, the visitors had a mountain to climb. However, Ghanaian striker Attram managed to reduce the gap to 3-1 to bring his team back into the game.

They kept pushing in the second half and former international striker Ahmed Belal made it 3-2 but they couldn’t get any further in the game.

Smouha’s coach, Hamza Al-Gamal was handed his first defeat since taking over the team in November.

Ismaily have now moved to the second spot with 25 points - two behind leaders Zamalek while Smouha are still in the danger zone with only 9 points.

In Alexandria, Ahmed Eid Abdel-Malek scored in the 29th minute to give Haras El Hodoud their first victory in four games against Ittihad El Shorta 1-0.
