University professors plan on marching to Tahrir Square on Friday, demanding the replacement of university presidents and deans affiliated with the former regime

The March 9 university professors movement has called for a march from the Cairo opera house to Tahrir square to join the Persistence Friday protests.

The march aims to voice the demands of university professors of replacing presidents and deans who were appointed under the Mubarak regime and increasing the education budget.

University professors had threatened to start a strike demanding that the minister of education issue a formal decree dismissing all current presidents and deans by the end of July. They want faculty members to elect all university leaders before the commencement of the 2012 academic year.
