Zamalek hammered second-division side Beni Ebaid 6-0 to avenge their shocking cup exit two years ago and proceed to round 16 of the Egypt Cup
Ivorian striker Abou Kone celebrated his return to the starting XI in spectacular fashion, drilling home a hat-trick (22, 67 and 79). Mahmoud Fathallah, 5, Hani Saied and Hazem Emam, 32, also added their names to the score sheet.
Manager Hossam Hassan took some players -- Abou Kone, Hazem Emam, Hani Said, Ashour El Adham and Ahmed Ghanem Soltan -- off the bench giving them a taste of the action alongside regular starters like Mahmoud Abdel-Razek “Shikabala”, Mahmoud Fathallah and keeper Abdel-Wahed El Sayed.
The White Knights imposed their dominance until the final whistle against a helpless side led by former Zamalek midfielder Tamer Abdel-Hamid.
However, the visiting Beni Ebaid made slight improvements in the second half but couldn't manage to slot in a consolation goal.
Zamalek will now face Wadi Degla in round 16.
Earlier in the day, Masry were stunned by Assuit Petroleum, 1-0 courtesy of a fine strike by Abdallah El-Nuby.
