Four sea ports based in the coastal governorate of Suez were closed temporarily on Friday due to a dust storm, according to a statement issued by Abdel-Reheim Mostafa, the head of the Red Sea Ports Authority.

"The four ports are the Tawfik passenger port, El-Sokhna Port for container transport, El-Adabiya Port for goods and El-Ziatat Port for petroleum transfer," Mostafa said.

"We decided to close the four ports temporarily due to bad weather, dust storms and lack of visibility for a distance of 5 kilometres," he added.

Moreover, El-Arabi El-Sorori, the Suez governor, told Aswat Masriya that he decided to close the Ismailia-El-Sokhna and Cairo-Suez main desert roads due to the dust storm.

The Egyptian Meteorology Authority said earlier on Friday that the bad weather conditions may last until Tuesday.
