Egypt's Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics says Egypt's population will reach 90 million next week at home with 8 million abroad


Egypt's total population will reach 98 million next week according to a media statement released on Monday by the state's Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

The head of CAPMAS Abu Bakr El-Gendy said that Egypt's population inside the country would reach 90 million next week, while the number of Egyptians abroad is 8 million, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Cairo is still the most crowded governorate in Egypt with 9,437,000 people followed by Giza governorate with 7,755,000 people and the Nile Delta's Sharqiya governorate with 6,629,000 people, CAPMAS data reveals.

Minya governorate is considered the most crowded governorate in Upper Egypt according to CAPMAS with 5,603,000.

The least crowded governorates in Egypt are the Red Sea governorate with 371,098 people, New Valley governorate with 242,334 people and South Sinai governorate with 175,406 people.
