Egypt's Sisi meets with Arab, world leaders on sidelines of climate summit

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi met with several Arab and world leaders during his stay in Paris to attend the UN summit on climate change which started Monday.

El-Sisi met on Monday with Jordanian King Abdullah, Bahraini Crown Prince Salman Ben-Hamad Al-Khalifa, Nigerian President Mohamed Bukhari, South Korean President Park Geun-hye, Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, Djibouti President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh and Qatar Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, according to the Ahram Arabic website.

The Egyptian president, who discussed bilateral relations with his counterparts, also met with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon and French President Francois Hollande.

On Sunday, El-Sisi met with French defence minister Jean-Yves Le Drian and Iraqi President Fuad Masum.

In a panel hosted by the UN secretary-general, El-Sisi shared African initiatives regarding renewable energies.

The Egyptian president is heading a climate change committee of African leaders at the UN.

The conference is the largest meeting of world leaders, as 150 heads of state are present in Paris for two weeks to agree on a post-2020 pact to solve the earth's climate change crisis.
