Egypt’s former prime minister, Ahmed Nazif, has become the first deposed regime figure to be referred to a military court

Prime minister Ahmed Nazif has become the first deposed regime figure to be ‎referred to a military court. He is accused of abusing his power, along with ex-‎Luxor governor Samir Farag, to facilitate the selling of an army-owned ‎piece of land ‎to businessman Mamdouh Fillip. ‎

Recently-revealed investigations indicated that Nazif and Farag directly ordered the ‎selling of the land to Fillip for a negligible price - a deal ‎that resulted in a loss of public funds of LE 60 million (over $10m).‎

The land was originally designated for an Olympic swimming pool.‎

Nazif is indicted on multiple charges of squandering public funds.‎
