Egypt court sentences 120 Morsi supporters to 2 years in jail on violence charges
Two other defendants were sentenced to five years in prison, and two were given a one-year suspended sentence
Kafr El-Sheikh Criminal Court sentenced on Monday 120 Morsi supporters to two years in prison for rioting in the vicinity of Kafr El-Sheikh police station after the violent dispersal of two pro-Morsi sit-ins in Cairo and Giza in August 2013.
Two other defendants were sentenced to five years in prison; two were given a one-year suspended sentence.
The riots in Kafr El-Sheikh, located in the northern part of Egypt, resulted in clashes between pro-Morsi supporters, anti-Morsi locals, and police personnel.
The verdicts can still be appealed.
