Governor Yasser El-Dessouki said the emergency state declared in the face of the seasonal influenza in fall 2015 and winter 2016 is still in effect

Upper Egypt’s Assiut governor said on Monday that 10 people suffering from seasonal influenza died in hospital, while 30 are currently being treated, state news agency MENA reported.

Governor Yasser El-Dessouki said that 13 others were cured of the virus.

El-Dessouki added that the emergency state against the seasonal influenza, declared in fall and winter 2015/2016, is still ongoing.

The governorate’s health ministry undersecretary Ahmed Anwar told MENA that samples are taken from all patients admitted to Assiut’s hospitals, with medications given as a precautionary measure until the test results come back.

In North Sinai governorate, hospitals decided to quarantine anyone possibly infected until they are cleared of having the disease. The hospitals also upped their emergency status to deal with the virus.
