The popstar dreamed that the president fed her grapes and honey

Egyptian popstar Sherine sparked a social media storm on Wednesday when she spoke on television about a dream she had about President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi.

Speaking on daily talkshow Al-Ashera Masaan (“The Ten O'Clock Show”) on Dream channel, the singer said she dreamed that she and other artists, including singer Mohamed Mounir, met with El-Sisi, who fed his visitors grapes dripping with honey.

"Then Mr. President asked us about what we wished for," she continued.

"Mounir and I replied that we want better pensions for the Egyptian people,” she said.

In the same programme, Sherine commented that she believes her dreams have meaning.

“My dreams and nightmares have a big influence on my life,” she told host Wael El-Ebrashy, adding that the pension system is something that needs improvement, and she hopes to support this cause.

The star's comments provoked heated-- and divided -- reactions on social media.

“Sherine should cover herself better during her sleep,” wrote one Facebook user sardonically, referencing a local wives' tale that bad dreams are caused by sleeping without covers.

Other users stood by Sherine and the president, with one commenting: “I believe that Sherine's dream indicates that good things will happen to Egypt.”
